Anzac Day 2009 Dawn Service rising sun
Anzac Day has come again.

2009 has seen more record crowds and at The Entrance, NSW, there were approx 4,000 were there for the dawn service. It was a short service from 5.30 till 5.45 am. The lone bugle rang out over the crowd with ‘The Last Post’, along with the New Zealand and Australian Anthems as well.
There were a number of familiar faces. Some you only see at public get togethers or Christmas Golf Days. People that you give the knowing nod to. From month old babies to assisted elderly, they were all there.
The minute silence was only disturbed by the morning sparows in a nearby pine tree.
There was no trouble from a very well behaved crowd. Police were there as a token gesture, more than a show of crowd control. One patrol car and a single officer on The Entrance Rd in the centre of town. I suspect there were other officers on adjoining roads but they were not visible from my stand point.
When the Dawn Service was over the birds suddenly became an unbearable shrill, letting everyone know it was time to leave.
What followed was a drive to Crackneck Lookout for the rising sun to dawn a new day.
